Welcome and thank you for your interest in the 2016 Hyack Ambassador Leadership Program. Now in it’s 45th year, this ambassador program is the premier youth leadership opportunity in our Royal City.
Sponsored by the Hyack Festival Association and supported by local businesses, community organizations, service clubs and private citizens, the Hyack Ambassador Leadership Program has grown into a year long opportunity that trains all participants in business and leadership skills as well as self-improvement and deportment. The skills learned and confidence gained over the course of the year representing our City of New Westminster, will last you a lifetime.
Hyack Ambassadors attend and volunteer at many local civic events as well as travel the Province of BC and the Pacific Northwest sharing the beauty, history and traditions of New Westminster with other communities as they participate in parades and festivals representing the Hyack Festival Association and our Royal City.
As part of the 2016 Hyack Ambassador Leadership Team, you will share these appearance opportunities and travel experiences with others on the Team. No one is expected to attend all the event invitations that are received. However, being a scholarship program, Hyack Ambassadors are expected to participate to their fullest ability and upon successful completion of your ambassadorial year and acceptance to a post secondary education facility, will receive a Hyack scholarship to further your education. The amount is dependant on your participation/involvement of the year.
There will be an informal information meeting for all interested applicants and their families (parents) on Tuesday, Sept 22 @ 7 pm at the Hyack Office (204 Sixth Street). Please feel free to bring a friend! We will be outlining the program and answering any questions before the application deadline of Friday, October 2, 2015 @ 4 pm. .
All applicants, submitting a complete application package, will be interviewed and the successful candidates (maximum of eight) will be notified of their acceptance into the program by Friday, October 16, 2015. The first weekly TNT (Tuesday Night Training) will be Tuesday, October 20, 2015 beginning at 6:30 pm at Glenbrook Middle School.
Again, thank you for your interest in the 2016 Hyack Ambassador Leadership Program, we look forward to meeting you!
